MIP Qualifications:
Innovative Brownfield Management (IBM) and its sister company, SER, Inc. have been involved in membrane interface probe data acquisitions and analysis since 2001. Our professionals have completed the delineation of fifteen major projects ranging from simple leaking underground storage tank to a Superfund project with chlorinated solvent plume.

In the early stages, IBM/SER sub-contracted all MIP work to a third-party. In 2006 IBM purchased its first MIP system. IBM is looking forward to adding a another MIP system on a ATV to match the versatility and mobility of our 6620DT Georpobe®.

Our clients range from state governments (State of Indiana and Illinois), regional and national insurance companies, major oil companies, nation-wide consultants and other private citizens. The most recent MIP project included approximately 55 MIP borings strategically installed around a 45-acre oil terminal owned by a national oil company. The project plume was delineated within four weeks and we saved the client hundreds of thousands of dollars that were budgeted for an imminent soil remediation, which was not warranted.

The contaminants and/or subsurface conditions where MIP is applicable are as diverse as the data gained from an MIP boring. We were successful in applying MIP to simple leaking tanks site contaminated with straight petroleum products in the subsurface soil and groundwater to chlorinated solvents sites. Additionally, some of our clients tasked us with mapping sand seams in the subsurface, relying on the electrical conductivity data to assess migration pathways (now we are getting real geological mapping using dip/strike angles and we can make it as detailed as the clients would like it to get).

Method of MIP Deployment:
[TODO: the text shown under "method of deployment" actually belongs under number of systems in operation]
Special Capabilities:
What makes us different and unique at IBM/SER is the diversity of our professionals capable of reaping the benefits of MIP and putting the data at the disposal of our clients. Our clients have utilized Voxler® and VolView® to render the plume in 3-D for easy volume estimation and detecting diving plumes. IBM/SER has equipped a utility van to house the MIP system along with other peripherals to make our service complete and selfsustained at the job site. The same van is equipped with Geoprobe® Pneumatic Slug Testing to conduct horizontal and vertical hydraulic conductivity mapping.
Service Area:
We have served clients in Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio. In general, we are capable of serving clients across the US EPA Region 5.
Number of MIP Systems Operating:
IBM/SER owns one system at the present time. A second system is in 2008-budget, which will be dedicated to rough terrain.
