MIP Qualifications:
S2C2 Inc. (S2C2) is a small business incorporated in August of 1998 and located in Raritan, New Jersey. S2C2 was formed by a group of experienced environmental professionals all with a particular interest in the site characterization and monitoring phases of environmental cleanup projects. S2C2 has provided direct-push services across the U.S. since 1998 and operated our direct-sensing division since 2000. S2C2 acquired our MIP system in 2005 after providing direct-push support to MIP companies for the previous two years. S2C2 is a full service site characterization company with four NJ-certified mobile laboratories, four Geoprobe® direct-push units and one MIP system. S2C2 staffs our MIP system with chemists from our mobile laboratory program, and operates both the direct-push units and MIP systems that we employ; we do not subcontract out any part of the system. The types of contaminants typically investigated include chlorinated solvents, petroleum, heavy fuels, other VOCs, and co-mingled plumes.
Method of MIP Deployment:
S2C2 currently uses four Geoprobe direct-push units (6600 Truck, 6620DT, 5410 and a limited access 540B unit) for direct-sensing services. All of our direct-sensing systems can and have been used in both static and percussion modes for direct-sensing services. S2C2 has also set anchors for static advancement of the direct-sensing tools in native soil and/or historic fill, and have used the concrete anchoring system through concrete pads/floors.
Special Capabilities:
S2C2 is a full service environmental services company. We have a fully dedicated indoor lab for the testing and repair of all of our MIP equipment and detector combinations. S2C2 currently uses four detector combinations depending upon the contaminants of concern: two HP 5890 GCs with PID/ELCD, a HP 5890 GC with PID/FID detectors and a SRI field GC with dual FIDs, an ECD, a dry ELCD and a PID. The use of the HP GC and ELCD allows us to continuously scale the instrument as we encounter higher concentrations of contaminants, thereby giving us a larger linear working range than typical ECDs. S2C2 also only uses trunk lines with a PEAK return line, which lessens the chance of carryover when driving the MIP into free-phase contamination. S2C2 currently houses the MIP system in a fully dedicated direct-sensing support vehicle. The custom designed enclosed four wheel drive truck has dual pre-strung rod strings and hardwired electrical outlets to provide power for laptop computers and misc. equipment. S2C2 also collects traditional confirmation soil, groundwater, and/or soil gas samples which can either be analyzed on-site in our mobile labs or back at our fixed-base facility. S2C2 also provides GPS services so that location and MIP data can be wirelessly e-mailed directly to interested stake holders, or sent back to our office to undergo advanced GIS/database/3-D imaging. S2C2 can provide final deliverables as either a written summary report, 3-D models of the site, geologic cross-sections, final MIP logs, raw data, and/or in a GIS database format.
Service Area:
S2C2 is a direct-push/direct-sensing and mobile laboratory company that provides services to our clients wherever such services may be needed. We are not limited to any specific geographic region. Although a majority of our work has been conducted throughout the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states, we have experience setting up and successfully implementing large-scale environmental site characterization programs at locations as far away as Nevada, Texas, Iowa, Georgia, and the Virgin Islands.
Number of MIP Systems Operating:
Currently we are operating 1 MIP system, 1 Conductivity system, and 1 FFD (Fuel Fluorescence Detector) system.
